Oman Cricket: Danube emerges champion

Danube emerged winner of Oman Cricket Club-Salalah Champion of Champion Twenty20 knockout tournament in Salalah recently.

Abdul Gani's allround performance helped Danube defeat Al Ameen Ayurvedic Clinic/Sweets of Oman by 32 runs in the final.

Electing to bat scored, Danube scored 173 for seven in 20 overs with Abdul Gani top-scoring with 47. Shailesh was the other notable scorer with 44. Asif Ali claimed four wickets for 23 while Asif Chora took two for 36.

In reply, Al Ameen Ayurvedic Clinicwas restricted  to 141 for eight. Dencin made an unbeaten 33 while Rajeesh scored 29.  Abdul Gani took two for 26 while Abhilash bagged two for 21.

After the conclusion of the Champion of Champion event, the Oman Cricket Club-Salalah announced that the inaugural knockout tournament will be held from March 23-26 and will feature 26 teams for Intermediate and Junior Cup.

Other results: Semifinals: Danube 175-6 in 20 overs (Taha Rana 53, Syed Qalab Shah 43, Abdul Gani 45; Abhishek Choudankar 2-30) beat  Ahbar Trading 158 all out in 19.3 overs. (Imran 52, Antony 28; Abdul Gani 2-26, Manu 2-20, Osama 2-15).

First Technology 161-8 in 20 overs. (Ijaz 51, Sihwanath 29; Murugan 3-17, Nadeer 2-23)  lost to Al Ameen Ayurvedic Clinic/Sweets of Oman 162-6 in 18.2 overs (Shamsher Ahamed 46, Shankar Lal 23; Vishwanath 2-30, Sajan 2-33).
