Golf: Azaan gets ‘dream’ chance to play in European Tour
It is not often when a golfer gets a direct spot to play in the coveted European Tour event. Oman's No 1 golfer Azaan al Rumhy, however, is one of them as he has been nominated by the Oman Golf Committee (OGC) as one of the two amateurs to play in the NBO Oman Open from February 15-18.
The other golfer will be decided after the OHI Oman Amateur Open on January 26-27 with the winner picking up the other slot available.
Mundhir al Barwani, the OGC chief, confirmed to Muscat Daily on Tuesday that “the OGC has nominated Azaan while the other spot will be decided after OHI Open.”
The 32 year old Azaan said, “To get a chance to play in the European Tour is a dream. I will be playing along with some of the top pros on my home course.
“I have already played in the MENA Tour, the Asian Tour and the European Challenge Tour. So it is great to compete in the European Tour. I am training hard and I hope to do well.”
