Oman, India sign eight pacts to consolidate strategic relations
Oman signed eight pacts on Sunday with India to consolidate strategic relations, within the framework of the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The agreements were signed from the Indian side by its Ambassador H E Indra Mani Pandey.
During the signing of these pacts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oman’s initial accession to International Solar Alliance was announced. It is based in India. H E Pandey said that cooperation between the two sides would expand through these pacts to a wider and more advanced level.
H E Pandey said that Indian companies have significant investments in free zones and ports in Sohar and Salalah. He added that there is an Indian investment estimated at US$1.8bn in two projects in Special Economic Zone in Duqm. On the volume of trade between the two countries, he said that this year it is expected to reach US$5.5bn.
