MoCI obtains patent for device producing energy from water molecules
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has obtained a patent for a device that produces energy from water molecules. The ministry is trying to create a competitive business environment for the private sector to contribute effectively to the development of the national economy, stated a press release.
“The invention of this device was done to get energy from varied resources, so that we get clean energy which is economical and low cost compared to the currently available energy resources,” said Duha bin Jamal bin Hilal al Barwani, the patent holder.
He added, “Through social media, I knew from the beginning about how to register patents in the ministry. But I did not have enough information about these procedures. When I went to the ministry I learned a lot about the importance of registering the patent.”
The intellectual property department at MoCI plays a major role in disseminating information of intellectual property rights to maximise its benefits, by organising lectures and workshops. Barwani said that patent protects and enhances economic interests and position of owners in the market. It also guarantees return on investment.
