International mining investment conference to be held in Muscat
The Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia, the region’s main international conference for miners, investors and service providers, will be held at the Sheraton Oman Hotel on October 9 and 10.
This is the only global mining investment conference in Oman dedicated to attracting an international profile of attendees to the mineral rich sultanate, stated a press release. It was launched in Oman last year by Spire Events (Singapore). The conference had successfully achieved this objective, where more than 40 per cent of the 200 attendees were from outside Oman.
The majority were investors seeking new mining opportunities in Oman and the region. For the 2017 edition, the confirmed participants so far include Scania Group (Sweden), Goldcore (Ireland) and Fatemah Daneshvar (Iranian mining entrepreneur).
The 2017 edition will also throw a greater spotlight on mining opportunities available in Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia, added the release. Miners and investors interested in these regions should sign up to connect with the relevant decision makers and gain more insight on mining investment opportunities and challenges there.
Willem Middelkoop, founder of Commodity Discovery Funds (The Netherlands) and 2016 conference speaker said, “It was important to reach out to other people. It is very interesting to have a conference in Oman and I am happy to be here.”
David Archer, CEO of Savannah Resources, which has copper projects in Oman, said, “The conference had been a terrific showcase for our company and it was well attended by influential delegates.” In 2017, Mining Investment Asia, Botswana, Africa, Europe and India have already been held in Singapore, Gaborone, Abuja, Frankfurt and New Delhi respectively. The conference will return to Panama in September before being organised in China, the UK, Ghana, Canada and Argentina across 2017 and 2018.
